Did you knowour planet Earth has its own holiday every year? Did you know it is much more than an American holiday and is celebrated by over 193 countries in the world? Each year on April 22, we celebrate Earth Day. Two years ago, Subaru of America began the Subaru Loves the Earth campaign. Being located in upstate New York at the foot of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains, North Country Subaru has a great appreciation of the Earth and the beauty it provides. Whether it is driving our beloved cars through the blooming trees in the spring, trekking through a storm to hit the slopes, or dismounting our bikes from the roof racks, we want to help make our planet a better place.
Subaru of America and North Country Subaru are collaborating with the National Wildlife Federation. The goal is to highlight our promise and commitment to the environment. This means that we have to do more than just enjoy the outdoors and the places that our cars can take us. We have to take care of the Earth and make sure that we are making it a place enjoyable by generations to come. The goal is to help educate consumers on things they can do to help protect and even promote the Earth.

One of the simplest ways to do this can start in your own back yard. The National Wildlife Federation suggests that people can create sustainable gardens that help wildlife. This means that they provide food, water, cover, and a place to raise young. North Country Subaru is happy to help you get started by providing our guests with seed cards. These small cards contain wildflower seeds and can be used to decorate indoors and outdoors (A couple of our employees have already planted some on their desks). Not only are flowers a fresh reminder of Spring and a delight to look at, but they are also an important part of the environment. Stop by any time from now until Earth Day (April 22) to receive your free seed card (or maybe a couple of seed cards if you'd like).

You will notice a couple of things on your seed card. First, there is a link to NWF where you can certify your garden. By going to www.NWF.org/garden you can officially recognize your home garden and make it a certified habitat! What a great way to show your love and support of the Earth! Do you have a large space at home that could use a nice and fancy garden? On the other side of the seed card is a link that offers a chance to win a $5,000 garden makeover. Go to www.NWF.org/Subaru to learn more. You'll be the envy of all your neighbors and have a great place to show your guests during your next barbecue.
Going a step further, North Country Subaru will be working with Abraham Wing Elementary School in Glens Falls to provide them with the materials to create their own certified habitat. Part of the program will be to help educate students on how they can better take care of the animals living in their own back yards and communities. You can see some of the products being donated below.

The next time you are outside appreciating the artwork of Mother Nature, remember there are simple things that you can do to help her along the way!
